Understanding Data Ownership
The Katalys network operates as a data processor on behalf of Partners and Advertisers. This page provides an overview of what data is owned by Partners or Advertisers, and how that data is shared across the network.

Guidelines
Data ownership at Katalys follows these simple rules:
The primary owner of the data is the Katalys customer who reported the data.
Website session data and order details are recorded into a “Tracking ID”. A Tracking ID is owned by a single Profile on the Katalys Marketplace, either an Advertiser or Partner.
When Katalys enables two Profiles to work together, i.e. by allowing a Partner to send Katalys Clicks to an Advertiser, the originating Partner can see some of the information about how those visitors perform, and the Advertiser can see certain data about the Partner’s clicks.
Details visible to the Partner will be restricted to fields necessary for optimization, and sometimes only with explicit approval.
Refer to our Advertiser Data Glossary or Partner Data Glossary for more details on per-dimension columns.
Details of Shared Data
The following table offer more details around how data is shared between Partners and Advertisers.
Feature Name | Visible to Partners | Visible to Advertisers | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
Katalys Network Statistics Shared by providing statistics such as Katalys Clicks or Katalys Impressions | Yes | Yes | Clicks and Impressions occur when Partners explicitly send traffic or analytics into Katalys reporting. These events help Partners and Advertiser work together. Scope:
Note: these events might happen on a Partner’s website (i.e. impression pixel on a publisher’s website) or on an Advertiser’s website (i.e. a Direct Link implementation where the Partner sends media buying campaign traffic). |
Partner-Driven Website Session Events Shared when a Partner has driven a user to an Advertiser’s Program | Yes | Yes | When a Katalys Partner sends traffic to a Katalys Advertiser, the Partner can report on basic details of those sessions. This is necessary for the Partner to optimize their traffic. Scope:
|
Order Basics Shared when a Partner drives an order | Yes | Yes | Basic order details are required to communicate on bills and provide transparency on payout rules. Scope of data shared:
|
Email Address Hash Shared via Postback implementations by approval | Only with approval | Yes | When explicitly approved by the Advertiser, Partners can enable a Katalys Postback to create an audience of visitors they drove. This enables Partners to build audiences in media buying platforms like Google Ads or Meta Ads. Partners can not see or report on hashed email; the hashed email is reported directly to Google Ads or Meta Ads on behalf of the Partner. |
