How Our Software Works

When you deploy the Katalys technology onto your website, you are leveraging a complex identity graph to analyze your visitors' browsing behavior. Our software works by collecting all known data point about a customer or web visitor, and then processing it within a private data silo owned/controlled by you.

The core output of this processing is “conversions”: de-duplicated events that represent an online order, signup, or lead. Properties of conversions can change over time, so partners require a unified and accurate lens into their data.

Using our identity graph, we tie these events together to create a unified view of what your users did before they converted. We use this to identify billable conversions that match an active contract within your Katalys account, and help you track and deliver value to your partners.

Why do you need all my data?

tl;dr: Because you will make more money with Katalys Partners. The partners who operate at scale require industry-leading attribution, advanced data syncing, and audience postbacks. Katalys has built this for you, ensuring that Partners only see the data you authorize.

The Katalys system expects to read all of your customers data for several reasons:

  • Browser privacy laws and defaults have gradually changed over time to restrict what is possible via cookies. Advanced techniques exist, but not in real time in the browser.

  • In order to economically process the massive amount of data to tie sessions together, data must be processed “offline”.

  • There is no technical way to know if a customer came from Katalys or not until all sessions can be analyzed.

Other softwares, especially affiliate softwares, work similarly. An example might be the Google Ads “pixel”, which references “match rates” and encourages passing as much data as possible into Google. We have taken on this gargantuan task, building a proprietary, industry-leading, deterministic identify graph, without you needing to map additional fields or integrate deeply into our systems.

This benefits you in several ways:

  • Your partners get credit for only their traffic.

  • You can leverage the Katalys identity graph for free, without having to worry about how to store session data or deal with browser updates, privacy changes, etc.

  • Your data is processed within your own private Katalys data silo, and isn’t transmitted without your consent.

This also benefits your partners:

  • Your partners get better visibility into their traffic, helping them understand their performance.

  • Your partners will be able to use Katalys' industry-leading Postbacks feature to help them optimize their campaigns.

  • Media buying RoAS will be much more accurate.

What do I need to do?

To activate this value, you must select a “Direct Integration” option from our list of Available Integrations, or follow all steps of the Custom Integration Guide.

Some Advertisers implement a Custom Integration, but only selectively deploy the Katalys Tracking Script or Landing Page Script. This results in a “cookie-based implementation” where only partial data will be collected. This will not give your Partners the credit they need to scale. Read more ->

Your data is your data. Katalys takes great care in ensuring that partners and advertisers see only “their slice” of traffic, while ensuring compliance with our general policies.
